Every couple deserves a dream wedding. Fantasize and picture perfectly how your memories would be with your own personal “at sea” wedding. Then why not be unique with your own dream boat, a wedding setting actually on board a sailboat!
Some of our guests have chosen to marry on one of the boats then take an extended sail as honeymoon, others have designed a week charter taking the middle 2 or 4 nights in a sailing getaway and stay back at the docks part of their vacation wedding package to walk to the historic downtown just minutes away from the sailboats.
Many of our sunset sails have been used for engagements. One charter was arranged with a message in a bottle. Another engagement happened when our mate hid the ring in a conch shell on the reef so she could find it.
Our sailboats are solid fiberglass with teak wood interiors. The sailboats are designed with safety and comfort in mind, with less rocking associated with sailboats. Also, the marina is protected on three sides for comfortable sleeping and very little noise ever at the docks with 24 hour security on deck. Low tech simple life, and easy to access and relax charters choose to go find a party, a museum, night life and any of dozens of restaurants and bars nearby with live music and wonderful local favorite foods.
Charter guests on a honeymoon may want to sit on the bow and just enjoy the quiet and sound of the water kissing the sides of the sailboat. Bring a book, sun bathe and enjoy each other’s company while our safety minded crew does all the cooking, cleaning and guiding each charter as to what is desired. Interaction is whatever level you want, just let the crew know you need some romantic privacy and they will gladly give you quiet time and space alone.
Off dock excursions include every meal and non-alcohol beverage or juices breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks arranged easily in advance by emails. Your entire menu is planned and shopped for by our first mate in charge of your cruise.
After one, two, or more nights having at sea adventures, some guests like to return to the marina, finishing their honeymoon while staying at the dock for the downtown experience shopping and sightseeing in Key West where we dock. After learning about sailboat living and have spent time sailing, it’s a great time to discover Key West.

Nearby sights and sounds such as Mallory Square Arts Sunset Festival nightly is easy to finding just by walking along the harbor. Plan a day to learn about the old Hemingway and wreckers stories, tour museums, and ask about how the Atocha treasure was found. Tour a natural butterfly sanctuary. Enjoy many art galleries featuring local, international and eclectic artists from the islands. Round out your visit with getting into the uniqueness of an island community like Key West.
Enjoy touring a little town that has its roots in old seafarers’ history, sponge fishing, conch harvesting, fishing and shrimping that built the special personality of the island of Key West. Taking a walking tour or a conch train maybe a trolley tour then find time to take an evening ghost tour of the old part of town and put yourself into a time machine. See the historic homes that were taken apart in the far away islands from Green Turtle Bay and rebuilt in downtown old Key West. Architecture in Key West presents as a living museum and testament to the simple ways of island style living.
The historic district homes are protected with strict rules on how to paint, repair and keep the original intact condition of the homes as close as to what the 100 plus year old homes looked like. There is a state park that if time allows, rent a bicycle or have a taxi take you to spend a day at Fort Zachary Taylor Park. While on your honeymoon vacation, check in advance to see if there are special events including street fairs or art and craft fairs, or what type of groups may be in town. February 14th marks the beginning of the busy “season” as it is called and blends into March and April spring break which keeps the town lively for a few weeks. April through August is a quieter time with many beautiful sunny days to enjoy. Motorcycle groups come in September for their poker run as a fund raiser. It may be noisier than you would like. For those who fancy bigger boat races November is when the big toys for big boys comes to town. Be aware that it can be a busy time but also an exciting time if that is a fun thing for you to enjoy. Some of our charters ask to schedule extra time on the sailboat to be on the sidelines of the power boat races.
Then, Fantasy Fest is more like the bawdy New Orleans Mardi Gras in late October; check the dates as scantily clad revellers abound; but you may wish to be a part of this two week celebration as well. December has wonderful lit up boat parade and lights in town, and later in the month, prepare to see one or more of three different types of New Year’s Eve ball drops from a drag queen in a large shoe to a conch drop or a wrench drop from a mast on a large schooner. Sailboat races often called the wreckers races are usually later in January. Key West has something for everyone and can match any time of the year to your dreams.
As the saying goes, if you can dream it we can do it for you. Our desire since 1995 is to allow you to “live like a local and play like a millionaire” with the consideration that if the weather and your plans need to change we adapt as any good sailor on an island would do.
